The true story of my yoga journey
“Where there is a will, there is a way.”
I am a researcher of environmental microbiology and nanotoxicology at the Institute for Nanomaterials (CXI), Technical University of Liberec (TUL). I arrived in Liberec in the middle of winter 2013 from the tropical climate of South Vietnam. I faced and coped with challenges and stress from my study and work in a new environment, a new culture in a foreign country, the separation from my family, and finding new friends. In addition to these, the pressure and responsibility for scientific work keep on growing, resulting in long-term accumulated stress, which causes me fatigue, emotional exhaustion, and some health problems.
In the spring of 2022, I started to practice yoga with an experienced yoga teacher, my colleague at TUL. After the first yoga lesson, I found that Hatha Yoga is right for my body and mind. From that moment, I embraced yoga in my life. I was educated as a yoga instructor at the International Yoga Academy. Thanks to the regular practice of complex yoga, my body tones the muscles, develops flexibility, and improves posture and spinal alignment. I gain more energy and strength. I am calmer, more patient and inwardly happier.
In the summer of 2023, I organized yoga lessons for my colleagues at TUL in the park and for other participants online. They all were delighted, which I felt exactly right after my first session. After 1 year of only yoga practice (3 hours/week), my medical health was positively improved. I was beyond my expectations, and my conclusion was that only yoga heals me. That has encouraged me and increased my curiosity about yoga. I continue to improve my education as a yoga teacher and a founder of the yoga center “YOGA SCIENCE”.
As a senior researcher, in my own experience, students, researchers and others, especially from abroad, often undergo mental and emotional crises, particularly younger ones. They may be successful in science, but the unanswered question is whether they are healthy and satisfied with their lives. Studies show that regular and long-term yoga practice helps establish psychophysical and hormone balancing, reduces stress, and gives new energy and motivation for all aspects of life. I would love to share and help you to achieve the same goals.
